My prediction is that you will remember but choose to act like you don’t (care).
Am I overrating myself? Underrating you? Just guessing the most likely outcome in a completely non-judgemental fashion?
… or maybe, since my understanding of both parties is so poor, I will just be totally wrong. Would that be nice? Perhaps not. If it ends up socially-obligatory awkward style, I will cry.
Actually, no matter what happens, I’ll probably cry.
Change leads to screwup

So I finally decided to update my phone to gingerbread (from CM6.1.1 to CM7.1.0). It all went beautifully at first. I was really pleased and all “wow gingerbread and CM7 are awesome!”
Just now in the car on the way to dinner there were signs that something might be going wrong (the lockscreen animations were uncharacteristically laggy), but well, what was I supposed to do lol. Stuck the n1 in my pocket, had dinner, then took it out again and realised, oh shit, it’s really hot and not responding. BATTERY PULL.
After that the phone rebooted into one of those states where 3/4 of the apps on microsd are missing, and I was like fuck, microsd corruption again? But at least that would be an easy problem to fix. Came home, ran chkdsk /f on the card, “no errors found”. And no, this was not cause for celebration, because all it meant was I now had absolutely no idea what was wrong.
Next I tried to use the short interval between the lockscreen first appearing and the phone locking up to uninstall some of the new stuff I installed in my “yay I now have 100mb more space!” spree earlier today. No luck. Shit! Ok, remove sdcard, boot… gosh, it works. Put in different sdcard… gosh, it works. Copy .android_secure onto new sdcard… fuck, it doesn’t work anymore.
… I guess at least now I sort of know where the problem is. But whyyyyyy. I really hate reinstalling stuff one by one without the aid of titanium backup (and really, the automated market restore doesn’t match up lol). Also imagine if I do that and then everything’s fine for another day but then suddenly everything stops working again. I think I really will defenestrate myself then.
And there’s the little matter of I don’t actually know *why* my titanium backed up stuff shouldn’t be working… CM7.1 bug? My own problem? Wut?
My current plan is to slap on s2e first tomorrow after a reflash, then a titanium restore onto that. ext apps2sd always seemed less problematic than froyo-style apps2sd; let’s hope that it holds true in this case too. Seems like an extremely dirty way to “fix” things, and possibly might just postpone the trouble to the next time I restore the same apks onto a setup using froyo apps2sd, but since I am lazy ttm and cannot understand the concept of delayed gratification…
And if that doesn’t work I will have to do the dreaded individual installs and THERE IS NO GOD (that’s true regardless of the result but I am leaving that line there for melodramatic effect!). And if that still doesn’t work, well, it’s pretty nice to have your birthday and deathday coincide, is it not? :P
The best part of this mess is that if I weren’t so lazy I would probably have a nandroid of CM7.1.0-RC1 to restore myself to. Ah well. Now I will be stuck using a phone with a blank sdcard, over 9000 missing icons, and probably twicca and shownearby slapped on tomorrow lol.
Omfg I’ve just wasted so much supposed study time typing this. ARRGH.
Oh and sorry to anyone I might have been unpleasant to while trying to fix this I suppose. Although if you see this, holy shit, wut r u doin? Go away
Hot damn!

The refurbished nook simple touch has dropped from $112 when I bought it to first $99 and then finally $79 in the past 2 weeks!
… I am always so good at buying things just before major price drops. Srsly if you ever want to buy something you should convince me to buy it first and then wait 2 or 3 weeks >.> people who want to get a galaxy nexus, take note!
But then again I shouldn’t be complaining in this case. I did expect price drops ($112 to $99 was expected, although maybe not the further drop to $79…), but told myself if I wanted to wait I might as well wait until Nov 24 for the kindle touch release, and I didn’t want to wait that long, so this was a decision consciously made despite prior expectation of price drops so whatever. After all if I had waited my nook would probably only have reached towards the end of/after my long leave, and that would be bad, wouldn’t it? :D
Right I’m going back to reading on my nook! See such a useful device I really shouldn’t regret the purchase. I’m sure this (such feelings of regret) is some sort of fallacy.
And of course, at least I’m not one of those who got a kindle 2 just before the kindle 3 announcement, or the kindle 3 just before the kindle touch announcement! And remember how close I was to getting a nook 1e just before the touch came out? This isn’t that bad an outcome after all :o

Stuff that comes out easily on twitlonger I cannot get myself to say when actually facing a person.

(hah! Not about a regex or something!)
My plan
October 10, 2011
This is my plan for 2 weeks after, during my long leave:
By then my nook touch should have arrived. I am going to find tons and tons of ebooks to read, and load them all up on the nook, and go find myself the best (uncrowded and long) bus routes across singapore, and I am going to have fun taking buses all over the place and reading on the bus.
Imagine – getting on an empty bus at an interchange, sitting under an aircon vent all the way, reading, and more likely, spending most of the time with mouth open staring out of the window and sleeping.
WHAT COULD BE MORE FUN?
I hope I don’t encounter many shittaros lol.
p.s. anyone have any bus recommendations?
edit: oh shit now I remember I have lots of essays to write maybe that week and a half would be “better” spent that way. :P
Help me

I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep this up. Can’t help but feel that soon I will go mad and terrible things will happen. And of course, such thoughts aren’t helping.
